About the Journal

Telangana Journal of Higher Education (TJHE)

Telangana Journal of Higher Education is a peer-reviewed academic journal published twice a year, in June and December, by the Telangana Council of Higher Education. It brings together research on teaching, policy, learning and governance, with a focus on Higher Education in India. It publishes original work across fields such as pedagogy, law, technology, sociology, architecture and curriculum reform.

TJHE accepts different forms of academic writing. They include research studies, reviews of literature or policy, theoretical papers, case studies and articles based on personal learning and reflection. All submissions must meet academic standards and follow the journal guidelines.

TJHE encourages writing that questions old models and opens up new ways of thinking about Higher Education. It supports work that draws on more than one field of study and promotes inclusivity and interdisciplinarity. It also invites work that links classroom teaching with research and practical knowledge.

TJHE pays particular attention to the role of digital tools and new technologies in education. It endeavours to bring together scholars, teachers and decision-makers who are interested in the future of Higher Education and wish to share their ideas with a wider audience.

Submission Guidelines

Submission Guidelines

The Telangana Journal of Higher Education (TJHE) invites contributions that engage with contemporary challenges, policies, and practices in higher education, with particular attention to the Indian context. The journal values submissions that adhere to rigorous academic standards and contribute to ongoing debates in the field. It accepts a wide range of scholarly works, including empirical studies, theoretical analyses, critical literature reviews, case studies, and reflective essays.

TJHE also places strong emphasis on contributions that re-examine established paradigms and propose alternative approaches to higher education. By encouraging interdisciplinary conversations and promoting inclusivity, the journal seeks to shape academic discourse in India while contributing to wider global conversations on higher education.

Through its commitment to advancing varied perspectives, TJHE aims to serve as a platform for thought-provoking research and innovative ideas that address the evolving needs of higher education in India and around the world. Submissions must comply with the journal’s guidelines to be considered for publication.

Types of Submissions

  • Empirical Studies: Comprehensive research that presents original findings and contributes to academic discourse.
  • Theoretical Analyses: Papers offering conceptual frameworks or critical evaluations of existing theories.
  • Critical Reviews: Evaluations of literature or policies, identifying gaps and proposing directions for research.
  • Case Studies: In-depth analyses of specific instances or practices relevant to higher education.
  • Reflective Essays: Structured writings critically analysing personal experiences or learning processes to draw connections with theoretical concepts.

Manuscript Preparation

  • File Format: Submit manuscripts in Microsoft Word format (.docx).
  • Length: Manuscripts should not exceed 8,000 words, including references, tables, and figures.
  • Font and Spacing: Use Times New Roman, size 12, with 1.5 line spacing.
  • Title Page: Submit a separate title page including:
    Manuscript title (concise and descriptive).
Author names and affiliations (department, institution, city, country).
Corresponding author’s contact details (preferably institutional email ID, and personal phone number).
  • Abstract: Include an abstract of 250-300 words outlining the study’s purpose, methods, findings, and implications. Do not include references in the abstract.
  • Keywords: Provide 5-7 keywords relevant to the manuscript.

Structure of the Manuscript

  • Introduction: Outline the context, purpose, and objectives of the study.
  • Methods: Clearly describe the research design, data sources, and analytical techniques.
  • Results: Present findings concisely, supported by tables or figures where applicable.
  • Discussion: Interpret the results, situating them within existing literature.
  • Conclusion: Summarise key insights and propose implications for higher education research or practice.
  • References: Follow APA citation style (latest edition). Include DOIs for references where available.

Formatting Requirements

  • Provide concise titles and captions for all figures and tables.
  • Headings: Use a clear hierarchy of headings and subheadings for sections.
  • Footnotes: Avoid excessive use of footnotes; integrate information into the main text where possible.

The manuscript’s relevance to the journal’s scope.
Its contribution to higher education research or policy.
  • ORCID ID: All authors are required to submit their ORCID IDs. If you do not have one, register at [https://orcid.org].
  • Anonymisation: To maintain the double-blind peer review process, authors must anonymise the manuscript by removing any identifying information.

Ethical and Legal Considerations

  • Plagiarism and AI content: All submissions will be screened for plagiarism and AI generated content using standard software. Manuscripts with plagiarised/AI generated content will not be considered.
  • Ethical Approval: For research involving human participants, authors must include a statement of ethical approval and informed consent.
  • Conflict of Interest: Authors must disclose any conflicts of interest in the cover letter and manuscript.
  • Originality: Submissions must not have been salami sliced, published or submitted elsewhere.

Review Process

  • Initial Screening: All submitted manuscripts are evaluated by an Associate Editor for scope, adherence to submission guidelines, and plagiarism and AI content detection. Manuscripts that do not meet these criteria are rejected at this stage.
  • Reviewer Selection: Manuscripts passing the initial screening are assigned to at least two independent reviewers with expertise in the subject area. TJHE follows a double-blind peer review process, where reviewers and authors remain anonymous.
  • Reviewer Feedback: Reviewers assess manuscripts for originality, clarity, methodology, coherence, and relevance to higher education research. Their recommendations are: Accept, Minor Revisions, Major Revisions, or Reject.
  • Authors are required to respond to the reviewer comments point by point within the specified timeframe (5 days for minor revisions and 10 days for major revisions). Revised manuscripts must address all reviewer comments.
  • Editorial Decision: Based on reviewer feedback and revision, if any, the Editor-in-Chief or an Associate Editor makes the final decision.
  • Ethical Standards: Reviewers and editors treat all submissions with strict confidentiality.
  • Accepted Manuscripts: Once approved, manuscripts undergo copyediting, layout editing, and proofreading before publication.

Post-Acceptance

  • Open Access: Accepted articles are published online and are accessible free of charge.
  • Copyright: Authors retain copyright but grant TJHE the right to publish under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC 4.0).
